The Interest Group

 

The Interest Group is the first step in becoming a Brother of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. The Interest Group allows interested individuals, or Interest, to interact with one another and the Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi. Throughout the Interest Group interest have the  opportunity to  develop valuable skills which can and will be used throughout their career at Cal Poly. Improvement in skills include: organization skills, time management, and communication. During the Interest Group, Interest set up and perform various events but not limited to: fundraisers, community service, and socials. The Induction Officer and other Brothers provide supervision and support during these events. 

 

The Induction Process/New Member Orientation

 

As with the majority of Greek organizations, membership into Lambda Theta Phi requires full participation in our new Member Orientation Season, The Induction Process, the second step into becoming a brother. The Induction Process introduces the ideals and goals of the fraternity into each participant. Each activity pertaining to the Induction Process has a distinct and vital purpose. The most significant objective of each season is to instill the concept of unconditional brotherhood within the participants, or line brother, and with the active brothers. During the Induction Process, the following characteristics are ingrained into the Inductees:

 

• Discipline

• Responsibility

• Self-Awareness

• Identity Education

• Cultural Awareness

• Character Development

• Trust Development

• Brotherhood

• Political Awareness

•  

Each program is systematically structured into a framework where each of these characteristic will be consistently emphasized. Our Process is an extremely vital component of our fraternity as a whole. We see the Induction Process as the planting of the seed, the seed of brotherhood.
